Home in the Himalayas (HITH) is a tourism business that collaborates with local community and is driven by the values of conservation and ecological sustainability. As a social venture HITH will generate funds for the eco-conservation of the Headwaters of the Ganges and Yamuna Rivers –source of water for 400 million people in India. It will also promote the social development of local communities.

By choosing to be part of Home in the Himalayas, guests will be contributing to the social and economic development of the villages that host them. Home in the Himalayas is being supported by RACHNA Society- a non-profit. The promoters of Home in the Himalayas are committed to offering guests the highest standards of safety, hospitality, food, trek guides and local naturalists.

We invite you to visit the Gangotri region and enjoy the HITH Experience- villages and their culture which is based on the unique agro-pastoral economy in the mid-Himalayas, hospitality by the whole village, understanding and opportunities of immersion in the conservation efforts of the local villagers in one of the most stunning areas of the world which is also an ecologically, spiritually and religiously very important regions for a billion.

The uniqueness of the Home in the Himalayas (HITH) is what we would like to call ‘The HITH Experience’- villages and their culture which is based on the agro-pastoral economy in the mid-Himalayas, hospitality by the whole village, understanding and immersion in the conservation efforts of the local villagers to conserve the Gangotri region which is ecologically, spiritually and religiously very important ecosystem for the people of India. The HITH experience blends adventure sports, cultural tourism, village stays and an authentic opportunity to engage in the conservation of the area’s stunning bio-diversity. Home in the Himalayas is owned and managed by trained villagers, in collaboration with professionals from the tourism industry, to ensure clean; safe and reliable hospitality service and facilities.
